Cody Boling
Cody Boling, a Knoxville native, is delighted to make his company and role debut with Opera in the Heights. He was recently seen as Monostatos in Die Zauberflöte with Mississippi Opera and as Beppe in Pagliacci with Marble City Opera. This spring, he continues an exciting season of debuts with Knoxville Opera, appearing in Gianni Schicchi.
His operatic repertoire showcases both lyric warmth and dramatic nuance, with roles including Little Bat in Susannah, Peter Quint in The Turn of the Screw, Prunier in La Rondine, and Tamino in Die Zauberflöte. Just as comfortable in musical theatre, he has performed as Franklin Hart in 9 to 5, Feldzieg in The Drowsy Chaperone, Herr Vanderdendur in Candide, Mr. Thénardier in Les Misérables, and the Major General in The Pirates of Penzance.
In addition to his stage work, Mr. Boling is an active concert soloist, having appeared in Bach’s Magnificat and Handel’s Messiah with the Knoxville Handel Society and the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra.
He holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Vocal Performance from the University of Tennessee and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He currently serves as Adjunct Professor of Voice and Director of Lyric Theater and Opera at Carson-Newman University.
