THE CHRISTMAS SPIDER (BORZONI/DE LOS SANTOS)

December 17, 18, 19, 20

Concluding the first half of the season, Opera in the Heights brings the magic of the holidays to the stage with The Christmas Spider. Inspired by a cherished European folk tale, this touching story follows a humble family whose simple act of kindness leads to an unexpected Christmas miracle. On a bitterly cold Christmas Eve, two children, Dymtro and Zoya, wait with their father, Federov, who returns home with little more than dark bread after a difficult day of selling firewood. Despite their hardships—and the looming pressure of their landlady—the family finds comfort in one another. When they bring a small tree into their cottage, they discover it is home to a spider who becomes an unlikely friend and plays a part in a magical Christmas moment. Filled with warmth, charm, and beautiful music, this festive production is a heartfelt celebration of kindness, resilience, and the true spirit of the season.
