Leila Lindsay Russell

Praised as “radiant and authentic” by Opera News and an artist with a “gracious tone” by The New York Times, soprano Lindsay Russell is quickly gaining recognition in the world of opera. Ms. Russell’s vocal versatility and strong acting ability make her a strong “cross-over” artist in roles such as Johanna in Sweeney Todd, Maria in The Sound of Music, Anne in A Little Night Music; and Cunegonde in Candide. This season, Ms. Russell sings the role of Marie in La Fille du Régiment with Intermountain Opera Bozeman and joins the roster of Houston Grand Opera as Addie Mills in The House Without a Christmas Tree and appears in their production of It’s a Wonderful Life

eric bowden

Nadir Eric Bowden

Eric Bowden, a native Houstonian, is excited to return to Oh! for Nadir in Les Pêcheurs de Perles. Eric recently made his role debut as Tonio in La Fille du Regiment and company debut with Intermountain Opera Bozeman. Other recent performances include: Don Ramiro in La Cenerentola (Oh!), Ernesto in Don Pasquale (Oh!), Laurie in Little Women (Opera North), Arturo in Lucia di Lamermoor (Opera North), Jacey Squires in The Music Man (Glimmerglass Festival),

Roderigo in Verdi’s Otello (Sarasota Opera), Roderigo in Rossini’s Otello (OH!), Laurie in Little Women (Pensacola Opera), Pong in Turandot (Pensacola Opera), Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi (Mobile), and Count Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Sivglia (Opera Iowa). Other credits include Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte, Duke in Rigoletto, Male Chorus in The Rape of Lucretia, Nadir in Les Pêcheurs de Perles, and Tony in West Side Story

octavio moreno

Zurga Octavio Moreno

Originally from Hermosillo, Mexico, baritone Octavio Moreno received his Bachelor degree in Voice at the Universidad de Sonora and his Master’s in Music at the University of Houston. Mr. Moreno participated in the young artist program at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia with teacher Bill Schuman, followed by the Houston Grand Opera Studio with teacher Stephen King. Mr. Moreno won third place in the 2008 Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers and represented Mexico in the 2009 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition and the 2010 Paris International competition, as well as third place in the Carlo Morelli Competition in Mexico City.

chris besch

Nourabad Chris Besch

Bass-baritone Christopher Besch is proud to have performed in seven countries on three continents with such conductors as Lorin Maazel, Leonard Slatkin, and Jeffrey Thomas. He has been described as having “a commanding stage presence and rich resonance of deep bass sound” (DC Theatre Scene). Recently, Mr. Besch portrayed Mars in the American premier of Handel’s Parnasso in Festa with the American Bach Soloists, Peter Gray in the world premiere of What Wings They Were: The Case of Emeline with Houston Grand Opera (HGOco), and Alidoro in La Cenerentola with Opera in the Heights. Upcoming performances include Nourabad in Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles with Opera in the Heights, frequent performances with Bach Society Houston, and an appearance at the 2017 Leipzig Bach Festival in Leipzig, Germany.

amy phillips

Dancer  Amy Phillips

Amy Phillips started her classical ballet training in her native city of Hong Kong at the age of 3. Since then she has also been trained in jazz, modern and contemporary. She had performed with Hong Kong Ballet in La Fille Mal Gardée, Coppélia, and The Nutcracker. Before moving to Houston from Portland, OR, Amy performed as a soloist in many studio ballet productions including Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and The Enchanted Toy Shop. She has also performed with several Portland-based companies including Polaris Dance Theatre, PDX Dance Collective, Agnieszka Laska Dancers and Kinetic Images Dance Company. She served as a fellow choreographer for PDX Dance Collective, and as rehearsal assistant for Kinetic Images. Amy joined Uptown Dance Company in 2013 and is currently in her fourth season with the company.

erica wyckoff

Dancer  Erica Wyckoff

Erica Wyckoff has been a Company Member with Uptown Dance Company since 2011. Her classical ballet training began with the Houston Ballet Academy under the Artistic Direction of Ben Stevenson and Academy Principal Clara Cravey. During her time as an academy student with Houston Ballet, she was chosen by Mr. Stevenson to dance in special presentations of Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and the professional companies annual production of the Nutcracker performed at Jones Hall and The Wortham Theater Center for many years. She continues her classical ballet training with Uptown Dance Company's Artistic Director Beth Gulledge Brown, Co-Artistic Director Adrian Ciobanu and Ballet Master Alex Pandiscio. Ms. Wyckoff began her jazz training with the Delia Stewart Jazz Dance Company and performed in its junior company. She has also danced with Contemporary Ballet Dallas, Houston Metropolitan Dance Company, Sandra Organ Dance Company, Psophonia Dance Company, Texas Dance Theater, Houston Grand Opera , Theater Under The Stars and Hope Stone. Performance venues include the Brown and Cullen Theaters at the Wortham Theater, Zilka and Saro m Hall at The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, The Miller Outdoor Theater, Southern Methodist University Meadows Dallas, Cullen & Moores Opera House at the University Of Houston, David Adickes' Sculpture Works, Diverse Works Arts Space, Stude Concert Hall in the Shepherd School Of Music at Rice University, Barnevelder Movement Arts Space, Eisemann Theater Dallas, Sam Houston State University, Houston Community College Tomball, Northwest and Heinen , Match, Galveston Island Outdoor Amphitheater and The Kaplan.
