Kirsten Hoiseth, Tosca

Kirsten Hoiseth, Tosca, returns to OH where she was lauded as Donna Leonora in La Forza del Destino in 2004 and Marguerite in Faust in 2003. Ms. Hoiseth recently finished her second year as a resident artist with the Boston University Opera Institute, where she continues to study with Penelope Bitzas. This past year, Ms. Hoiseth performed her first Mimì as part of the Opera Institute’s Boston Masterworks Series of La Bohème as well as the roles of Lady with a Cake Box in A Postcard from Morocco, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni and Natalia in Hoiby's A Month in the Country.  She was also highlighted in Boston University’s Fall Fringe Festival where she performed the title role in Suor Angelica, Anita in La Navarraise, and False Angèle in Weill’s The Tsar Has His Photograph Taken. As part of BU’s 06-07 Public Celebrity Master Class Series, she was selected to perform for Deborah Voigt. Ms. Hoiseth received her early training as a violinist at the Univ. of Minnesota.  She transferred to Southeastern Louisiana University as a junior voice major where she earned her bachelor of music degree as a student of Scharmal Schrock.  She continued her training in voice with Kathleen Kaun at Rice University where she received her MM degree in vocal performance.   While at Rice she performed the roles of Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte and Contessa Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro.  Ms. Hoiseth received further training as a studio artist with Chautauqua Opera in 2004. She was the recipient of the 2007 Opera Institute award for Distinguished Artists and a finalist at the 2003 Southwest Regional Met Opera Auditions, where she was honored with an Encouragement Award.
