For those new to opera, it is the ideal "first piece," and for devoted opera fans, there is still much to discover from our favorite Bohemians, Mimí, Rodolfo, and friends, in the intimacy of Lambert Hall.
Meet the Director
Dr. Lynda Keith McKnight
Lynda Keith McKnight, stage director, has directed eight productions for Opera in the Heights including The Telephone and The Medium, La tragedie de Carmen, Cosi fan tutte, Macbeth, Rigoletto, and La Traviata. She also directs regularly with the UH Moores Opera Center, most recently in performances of The Consul and L’Elisir d’amore. In addition to her work as a stage director, Dr. McKnight, a soprano, made her stage debut with the Metropolitan Opera in 1991 in the world premiere of John Corgliano’s The Ghosts of Versailles, and has sung professionally with opera companies and orchestras throughout the world. Dr. McKnight holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance and Opera Directing from the University of Houston Moores School of Music, where she currently serves as a faculty member in Vocal Studies and Opera. In addition, she holds both a Master of Music in Voice and an Artist Diploma in Opera from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, as well as a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from Baylor University.
