Sara Crain, Jouvenot, debuts at OH in this role. In the past year she has appeared as Despina in Cosi fan tutte and in The Ghosts of Versailles’s Opera Quartet. Prior to these roles, she sang Fiorentino in Street Scene and Fiorilla in Il Turco in Italia. At the Atlantic Coast Opera Festival in 2006, Ms. Crain apeared in multiple scenes programs as Clorinda (Cenerentola), Susannah (Susannah), Baby Doe (The Ballad of Baby Doe), and Sophie (Werther). In 2005 found she performed as Marguerite in Faust and Maria in West Side Story for the Astoria Music Festival scenes programs. Her repertoire also includes Musetta (La Bohème), Bastienna (Bastien and Bastienna), Cis (Albert Herring), Sally (A Hand of Bridge), and Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro). An experienced concert artist, Ms. Crain has performed Vivaldi’s Gloria, Saint-Saëns’ Oratio de Noël, and Rutter’s Requiem with the Emerson Choir. Having already obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance at Rice University in 2004 under the tutelage of Dr. Joyce Farwell, Ms. Crain completed her master’s degree at the Moores School of Music as a member of tenor Joseph Evans’s studio in May of 2007. |
