Peter Hakjoon Kim, Michonnet, returns to OH after a stellar performance in the title role of Rigoletto last season. A native of Seoul, Korea, he immigrated to America at the age of sixteen. After graduating from the Juilliard School with Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Music, he joined the Dicapo Opera Theatre in New York as a member of their Resident Young Artists Program. Mr. Kim sang his very first opera at the age of seventeen as Figaro in II Barbiere di Siviglia when he was a student, and he made his professional operatic debut at eighteen as Goro in Madama Butterfly for the Dicapo Opera. While attending the Juilliard School, Mr. Kim worked with renowned directors such as Frank Corsaro, Chris Mattagliano, and Ed Berkly. He performed the role of Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte, and the title role in Don Giovanni in the school's opera theater program. He also sang Marco in Gianni Schicchi for the Juilliard Opera Center. Mr. Kim also sang tenor roles such as Bacchus in Ariadne auf Naxos, Don Jose in Carmen, Alfredo in La Traviata, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, and Rodolfo in La Bohème with Regina Opera Company, New York Concert Opera, Opera in the Ozarks, and Dicapo Opera Theatre.
