Melanie Denzlinger, Adriana, returns to OH after her debut as Manon in Manon Lescaut in 2004. A native Houstonian, she earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana and a Master of Music degree from UT-Austin. In the 2005-2006 season, Ms. Denzlinger appeared with Mobile Opera, performing her first Mimi in Puccini’s La Bohème. Following her performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Canton Symphony, she performed selections from Floyd’s Susannah and Cold Sassy Tree as a guest soloist for the Kingwood Chorale in Houston. During the 2004-2005 season, Ms. Denzlinger made her Mobile Opera debut singing Magnolia from Showboat. She was a member of Lyric Opera of San Antonio’s Studio Program and an apprentice with the Austin Lyric Opera’s Young Artist Studio. Awards and honors include winner of the 2004 38th Annual Rose Palmai-Tenser Scholarship Competition, winner of the 2003 El Paso Opera Company Laureen Butler Vocal Competition, a 2002 Southwest Regional Finalist of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and a recipient of the 1999-2000 Richard Tucker Music Foundation Opera Scholarship. She currently resides in Montgomery, TX with her husband, Duane and dog, Kasey.
