George Williams, Poisson, returns to OH after spirited portrayals as Ramendado in Carmen and Don Curzio in The Marriage of Figaro. He received his Bachelors of Music Education with vocal emphasis in 1995 from Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi and has taught music in the public schools of MS and TX since 1995. Mr. Williams was a soloist and chorus member for the Texas Master Chorale for four years, singing masterworks such as Bach’s Magnificat, Handel’s Messiah, and Mozart’s Requiem, as well as the tenor solo in Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass at Texas Choral Director’s Assn. Conference in San Antonio. He started singing with Opera in the Heights as a chorus member in 1999, and then sang a total of eighteen roles in the following years. At OH’s 10th Anniversary celebration, he received one of six “You’re an OH Star” awards for his years of loyal devotion to the company. He thanks both his family for their support in his preparation and Maestro Weibel for the opportunity to sing the many roles he has enjoyed performing.
