Aida Baligh, Adriana, is a Viennese born soprano who is making her debut with Opera in the Heights. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland Opera Studio (MOS). Her roles with MOS include Elle in La Voix humaine, Vitellia in La clemenza di Tito, under the baton of Maestro Heinz Fricke, Fortune in the Coronation of Poppea, and Jean d’Arc in John Musto’s historical parody Pope Joan. In 2005 she made her New York debut as Sig.ra Dufresne/Simona in Teatro Grattacielo’s concert-version revival production of Leoncavallo’s Zaza at Alice Tully Hall under the baton of the late Maestro Alfredo Silipigni. For Ms. Baligh preparing for roles other than operatic, especially Shakespearian, is essential in order to fully understand the seamless integration of her work on stage. Ms. Baligh’s Master in Music in Opera Performance complements her B.A. in Music from the University of Maryland and a B.A. in International Affairs from the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University. |
