Auditions for 2007 are closed

Opera in the Heights holds vocal auditions once a year in December.
The 2007 auditions will be held in:

HOUSTON Sat - Sun, Dec. 1 & 2, 2007 1703 Heights Blvd., Heights Christian Church Sanctuary,
on the corner of Heights Blvd. and 18th Street

NEW YORK Sat – Mon, Dec. 8, 9, 10, 2007 Nola Studios 250 West 54th St. New York, NY 10019

Since we are a showcase for the development of young singers who demonstrate strong potential for a professional career, our standards are quite high. OH produces four operas per season with 6 or 8 performances of each. Lead roles are double cast, each artist singing in 3 or 4 performances over a two-week period. All performances are with orchestra and in the original language.

Future repertoire includes Butterfly, Mephistofele prelude in concert with Don Pasquale, Macbeth, Falstaff, Cav/Pag, Manon (French), La Favorita, Ballo in Maschera. All performances are with orchestra in original language. Singers earn a performance fee and housing is provided. Audition fee is $30, accompanist provided.

Materials for this year’s auditions will be accepted starting in October, 2007. To submit your request to audition, email your resume, head shot, cover letter and where you would like to audition to laurie@operaintheheights.org

There is a $30 audition fee with cash or a check made payable to Opera in the Heights at the time of your audition. An accompanist is provided.

ONLY EMAILED MATERIALS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Applicants who have previously auditioned for OH will be accepted for a return audition by invitation only. Exceptions could be approved by Artistic Director for changes in voice type or a significant change in repertory
